Stories of Impact

Using their FICE tools, Dominican Republic organization, INADEB, developed a strategy to provide training about sustainable coffee production to the members (mostly families) of one of its cooperatives.

Results.

  • 82 families are now able to effectively communicate and train others about sustainable coffee production.
  • 45 families joined the cooperative (which includes a 25% increase of women members).

During the FICE training, Dominican Republic organization, COOPDECI, developed a marketing plan to sell marmalade made by the women members.

Results.

  • 40% cooperative sales income increase..
  • 27% increase in cooperative membership.
  • 23 women members are now able to fully support their families through their sales income.
  • 200 local ingredient suppliers are generating income.

Using their FICE tools, Peruvian organization Ashanti Peru developed a social media and a “below the line” campaign to encourage Afro-Peruvian young people to recognize and be proud of their Afro-descendant heritage.

Results.

  • Secured 16 new volunteers for social media and urban intervention activities to promote Afro-descendant heritage.
  • Completed 14 urban Afro-descendant heritage interventions in 5 Peruvian cities, reaching over 1,000 young Afro-descendants.
  • Raised awareness of 1724 members of the European Projects Network by creating and sharing Ashanti’s overview.
  • Developed new partnerships with three international organizations (from the U.K. and Cabo Verde) to support 7 new afro-descendant heritage projects. 

Using their FICE tools, Peruvian organization Acción y Desarrollo developed a strategy to reduce violence, early parenthood and early pregnancy rates among young adolescents in Lima and Junin, Peru.

Results.

  • 200 adolescent girls received leadership training to prevent violence in their schools.
  • 800 adolescents (both boys and girls) created professional and technical development projects, which helped decrease early parenthood and pregnancy rates.
  • Developed partnership with new international donor, EMpower Foundation, to support 3 new violence and teen pregnancy prevention projects to benefit over 1,000 adolescent girls.
  • Increased awareness of their cause by making formal presentations to the Argentinian Ministry of Education and in  Peruvian universities.
